Zoning & Land Use Attorney, Lee Dobbins Obtains Expansion Approval for Private School in St. Lucie County

Congratulations to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy and Dean Mead’s zoning and land use attorney, Lee Dobbins on the recent city approval for the school’s expansion in downtown Fort Pierce. Dobbins obtained approval for the school expansion from the City of Fort Pierce Historic Preservation Board and the Fort Pierce City Commission. This approval was challenging because the waterfront site is located in the City’s downtown business and entertainment district. Concerns with respect to parking, traffic and the integration of the site into the downtown environment all had to be addressed with City staff and other stakeholders.

The school expansion will   enable the school to add 9 new classrooms, lab space, a gymnasium and new sports fields allowing the school to grow from the current enrollment of 310 students to 698 students, through several phases of expansion over the next 10 years. This will allow the school to continue to expand its service to the families and communities of St. Lucie County.
