There are a variety of pitfalls, traps and missteps that practitioners and clients can make during the estate planning and administration process, any of which could be extremely costly to both the professional advisor and the client. Our presentation will highlight several of the mistakes we see that are made in estate planning and administrations today, and provide tips on how you and your clients can avoid them.  Issues that will be addressed include homestead, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax, annual exclusion and crummy gifts, insurance and retirement beneficiary designations, trust ownership of S corporation stock, and trust planning for minors.
