(Orlando, FL) Attorney Austin Alderman has published “Watt’s in the Bill? Unpacking Energy Tax Incentives in OBBBA.” The article provides details on the evolving Investment and Production Tax Credits, initially introduced in the 1970s and 1990s, respectively.
The author shares that in January 2025, the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service issued final rules on how to qualify for the production tax credit and the investment tax credit, each specific to clean energy. This was followed by changes introduced as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) and an Executive Order signed by President Trump on July 7, 2025.
“These changes mean developers must re-evaluate timelines, tighten project schedules, and adjust financing and compliance strategies,” shares Austin. Doing so will help “ensure they remain eligible for the valuable tax credits.” Click HERE to review the article.
