May 3rd marked the end of the 2013 Florida Legislative Session in Tallahassee. Key legislation for Florida’s businesses and real estate community was enacted in several areas. Please join us for an overview of the new laws and the changes imposed as a result of these key bills. Learn how they will impact you and your clients.

The program will feature four speakers from Dean Mead:

R. Mason Blake – Mr. Blake has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, business, environmental and land use law. He has an extensive legal career working in Brevard County where he represents clients in a variety of complex real estate and business matters, specializing in the development of large, mixed-use communities. He has also served for nearly 15 years as the principal counsel for the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Mr. Blake is Board Certified in Real Estate Law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization.

Dennis G. Corrick – Mr. Corrick practices in the areas of commercial real estate, zoning and land use, and general business law. He has experience in every element of real estate purchase, ownership, governance and sale. In addition, he assists clients in land use and zoning matters, permitting and licensing, and in agreements governing the use of property such as covenants and restrictions, commercial and agricultural leases, easements and licenses. Mr. Corrick has extensive experience working with issues unique to agricultural businesses and properties. He also collaborates with other firm attorneys in litigation matters involving title disputes, and probate and trust matters where real property is involved.

Jonathan D. Wallace – Mr. Wallace is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Department and the Financial Institutions Industry Team. He has extensive experience in counseling clients on all aspects of the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, leasing and operation of commercial properties. Through his frequent representation of real estate professionals in large, complex real estate transactions, Mr. Wallace has become proficient in dealing with a wide range of real property-related legal matters including title insurance issues, Florida transaction taxes, and the drafting and negotiation of real estate purchase and sale agreements, easements, property management agreements, and commercial leases, including communication tower leases.

Richard I. Withers – Mr. Withers practices in the Tax and Estate & Succession Planning department. He represents businesses and entrepreneurs in all types of business and tax matters, including choice of entity, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and other general business matters. He also counsels clients in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, probate and trust administration, and wealth preservation.
