About Jennifer P. Ungru
Jennifer Ungru leads Dean Mead’s Government Relations & Lobbying Practice. Having over 20 years of political, policy, and governmental experience, she works with a variety of clients on advocacy, strategic development and execution, policy initiatives, messaging, procurement strategy, and targeted crisis response/management.
Jenn offers clients the knowledge and insight she has acquired from serving high-profile roles in the Executive Office of the Governor, the Florida Legislature, and at the highest levels of national and statewide political campaigns. She delivers results for clients through providing a deep understanding of “the how and the why” of policy and the political process.
During her career, Jenn has served in the appointed position of Deputy Chief of Staff, overseeing nine agencies, including the healthcare and public safety departments, as well as the Departments of State and Management Services. Together, these agencies account for more than 45 percent of the state of Florida’s total budget. In addition, she was Chief of Staff for the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), which oversees the state of Florida’s Medicaid program and regulates more than 45,000 healthcare facilities.
Nationally, Jenn has extensive political experience in 13 states, as well as with the Republican National Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee. She was tapped by the DeSantis campaign for Election Day Operations, then led the recount efforts and strategy for Governor DeSantis. She presented to the Transitional Advisory Committee on Government Operations, regarding the 2018 elections and recounts, and served as a member to the Health Care Transition team.
The primary focus of Jenn’s practice is healthcare, specifically helping healthcare providers navigate state regulations and the constant transformations of our delivery systems.
Jenn, alongside the Dean Mead Team, has successfully navigated the appropriations process to secure funding for water projects and road projects on behalf of local governments we represent in both plentiful and lean budget years.
