Panel Discussion about the Affordable Care Act Kicks Off Brevard Business Briefings in Melbourne

On Tuesday, May 21, Dean Mead held its inaugural Brevard Business Briefings series at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place with more than 80 people in attendance. The program was aptly titled, “Health Reform and the Affordable Care Act: Is Your Business Prepared for the New Normal?”  Members of the panel included:

Moderator:  Claudia Haines Jones, Corporate and Business Law Attorney, Dean Mead

Panelists:

  • Dr. George Mikitarian, President and CEO of Parrish Medical Center
  • Scott Sorensen, President and CEO of Sorensen Moving and Storage Corp.
  • Dr. Edgar Figueroa, Chair of Quality Management Committee, Holmes Regional Medical Center
  • Charles H. Egerton, Tax and Corporate Attorney, Dean Mead

In an engaging talk-show style program, the panelists shared how businesses should be preparing for significant issues related to health reform. They strongly urged businesses to prepare for the changes that will be enacted on January 1, 2014.  Audience members were also encouraged to ask questions regarding this rather controversial issue for business owners.

Highlights from the program were reported in the May 22, 2013 edition of Florida Today in an article titled, “Affordable Care Act panel stresses compliance”.  To read this article, please go to: http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2013305220028.
