Dean Mead Shareholder Jonathan Wallace Earns Florida Bar Board Certification in Real Estate

Orlando, FL — Dean, Mead, Egerton, Bloodworth, Capouano & Bozarth, P.A. recently announced that Jonathan D. Wallace, shareholder in the Orlando office, has earned Board Certification in Real Estate from The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization & Education. This is a significant milestone in Wallace’s legal career because he is now distinguished as a specialist and expert in the area of real estate law. Only 7% of the lawyers eligible to practice law in Florida have earned board certification.

Wallace practices in Dean Mead’s Real Estate department and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Development and Financial Institutions Industry Teams. He has extensive experience in counseling clients on all aspects of the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, leasing and operation of commercial properties, ranging from agricultural to mixed-use urban infill. Wallace deals with a wide variety of real property-related legal matters including title insurance, Florida ad valorem and transaction taxes, 1031 tax free exchanges, and the drafting and negotiation of real estate purchase and sale agreements, easements, leases, property management agreements, and declarations of covenants, conditions and restrictions.

Wallace also has significant experience representing financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies, and corporate clients in a variety of commercial and real estate lending matters. His commercial and real estate lending practice includes representation of lenders and borrowers in negotiating, structuring and documenting real estate acquisition, development, and construction financing as well as loans secured by non-real estate assets.

Wallace earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with honors, from the University of Florida in 2003. He went on to earn his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2006.

Background:
Board certification is The Florida Bar’s highest evaluation of attorneys’ competency, experience and professionalism in the areas of law approved for specialization. The Florida Bar maintains high standards lawyers must meet before seeking certification in one or more of the 26 areas of law approved by the Florida Supreme Court for board certification. Even if an attorney does meet the stringent application criteria; judges and other lawyers must evaluate the lawyer as to character, ethics and professionalism; and the lawyer must pass a rigorous examination or meet strict criteria to exempt the exam before officially earning board certification.
