Winning Design Team for National Pulse Memorial & Museum Announced

The onePULSE Foundation selected the winning team to design the National Pulse Memorial & Museum to honor the 49 lives that were lost on June 12, 2016.

Coldefy & Associés with RDAI, Xavier Veilhan, dUCKS scéno, Agence TER, Prof. Laila Farah, and Orlando-based HHCP Architects have been selected to design the National Pulse Memorial & Museum. After months of discussion, the decision was announced on October 30 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

In March of this year, the Memorial and Museum Design and Construction committee selected Dovetail Design Strategists, the leading independent Architectural selection firm in the country, to run the International design competition. The open call attracted 68 teams from 19 countries. In total, 168 firms and 47 individual artists participated on those teams.

Real Estate attorney Vicki Berman, the Chairman of the onePULSE Foundation National Pulse Memorial and Museum Design and Construction committee spoke at the announcement. “The goal of our committee has been to manage and oversee all aspects of the design and construction of the memorial and the museum, effectuating goal number 1 of our strategic plan,” Berman said, “to turn tragedy into love by designing, constructing and maintaining a memorial and a museum to honor and remember the lives taken and those affected.”

The National Pulse Memorial will be built on the site of the Pulse nightclub. The museum will be located at 438 West Kaley Street. The memorial and museum are projected to open in 2022.
