Emily Duda Buckley joins Dean Mead as a Government Affairs Manager with over 10 years of experience advocating on Legislative and Executive issues. Prior to joining Dean Mead, Emily was the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. While there, Emily used her analytical and relationship building skills to work cooperatively with stakeholders, represent the Department while attending legislative meetings, and to lobby the legislative and executive branches on a variety of issues. She now uses these skills to develop strategies with clients that align with their specific goals.
Emily has worked at state agencies in roles where she worked with government officials at the local, state and national level. Before her career in public service, Emily represented a multitude of clients in various industries including: State Farm, Leon Medical Centers, the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and Charter Schools USA. Additionally, Emily has worked for both the Executive Office of the Governor, the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget, and the Florida House of Representatives. Emily maintains a wide-ranging network of contacts throughout the Executive Office of the Governor, the Florida Legislature and state agencies.
Secured the passage of SB 1020, which legalized industrial cannabis in Florida and created a statewide State Hemp Program within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Successfully passed HB 1275, which increased standards and streamlined processes for temporary amusement rides creating safer and more efficient industry regulation.
