Denise Dell-Powell in ALFA’s June Newsletter

Dean Mead’s Chair of Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, Denise Dell-Powell, is featured in the June 2019 edition of ALFA’s Business Litigation newsletter.  The article highlights one of her most interesting cases where Denise represented a Lender in a Chapter 11 case in which the Debtor owned and operated a golf course in the Central Florida area.  The golf course was operating a loss.  At the hearing to confirm the Debtor’s Chapter 11 plan, the principal of the Debtor testified that his plan to turn the business around was to have a “sports” themed golf course with each hole as a different sport.  The baseball hole would have a sand trap in the shape of a baseball. The 18th fairway would be lined like a football field with a sand trap in the shape of a football.  At the end of his testimony, Denise said, “So basically a giant putt-putt course”.  Confirmation was denied and the case dismissed.

She’s a marathon runner who also enjoys hiking in the mountains.  Read more here ALFA Business Litigation Newsletter 2019
